Leon Krier

biographical information (somewhat fawning)

I don't actually know that much about Leon Krier. Somehow, despite the seductive qualities of his drawings, his thinking has followed a trajectory of which, for me, the only really compelling part is his book Houses, Palaces, Cities (1984) amazon.com entry.

Best of all in this book are the picture postcard format polemical cartoons, which, taken together, are a devastating critique of the pathetic situation into which architectural discourse and practice has got itself since WWII.

I should say that Krier's more recent writing and output seems less interesting, perhaps constricted by his increasing certainty that the classical approach to architecture is the only valid one.
